Games, GameKit, SpriteKit, SceneKit, and Metal choices
Game technology choice begins with mechanics, content scale, rendering needs, platform targets, team skill, and production budget. Starting at the lowest layer creates work the product may not need.
Design the capability
- SpriteKit fits many 2D scene, action, physics, and input problems.
- RealityKit or SceneKit may fit scene-oriented 3D work depending on platform and existing investment. Metal fits custom GPU control.
- GameKit provides platform services such as player identity, achievements, leaderboards, and multiplayer where configured.
- Separate deterministic game state from rendering and services so rules can be replayed and tested without a screen or account.
Validation boundary
No game target, renderer, physics simulation, Game Center account, leaderboard, multiplayer session, GPU capture, or device frame budget was exercised.
